    This is a proposal to retire the word whereupon in favor of upon which.

    Legal compound. \”Whereupon the meeting ended\” → \”the meeting then ended.\”

    Same family as thereupon. ‘Whereupon the meeting adjourned’ is what you write when you want to sound like a 19th-century clerk.

    ‘And then the meeting ended’ says the same thing in half the letters. Let these compounds dissolve.
