    This is a proposal to retire the word kiangsu in favor of Jiangsu.

    Wade-Giles province. Shanghai sits here. The spelling should reflect that.

    Jiangsu is one of China’s wealthiest provinces. Shanghai sits on its coast. The world should spell it right.

    Kiangsu is Wade-Giles. Jiangsu is reality.
